I moved to this area almost a year ago and have used the services of this establishment frequently in that time. The staff are friendly and go out of their way to be positive and helpful. For those of you who use booking apps, be aware. They charge a booking fee of their own that they don't tell you about, which accounts for the difference between what you read online and the actual price (which will end up being more than if you'd paid front desk price quite often). I recommend you use those apps to find likely places, then book with the hotel of your choice directly. Carefree Inn rooms are clean and everything works, and it's conveniently located.
The front desk staff here are extremely nice & lenient with their check-in/ check-out times. You can check-in any time after 1 p.m. AND they let us check-out an hour later (12 p.m.) free of charge. No one bothered us, it was quiet, felt safe, the rooms are acceptable, & it won't break the bank. I would definitely visit again just based off of the hospitality alone!
Don't judge a book by it's cover; that definitely applies to the Care Free Inn. The parking lot is cracked and has weeds growing and my first thought was "oh no, it's going to be crappy"....how wrong I was! The rooms are sparkling clean and include fridge, microwave and a tiny coffee pot. The nice, deep bathtub/shower had plenty of hot water with good pressure. The bed is comfortable and my only suggestion is to include more than 2 standard pillows on a king size bed. The employees were kind. Within a couple of blocks is a Dollar General and Dairy Queen; and a convenience store with McDonalds right across the street. Without hesitation I would stay here again!
That a good place to stay during your cross-texas trip. Stayed here for two times, reasonable price, clean rooms, fast check-in and receptionist allowed me leave keys in the room during check out because I always leave before 5am and I sleep like a baby here :-) McDonals right across the street which is really convenient for quick dinner/breakfast.
